How much of my birthday money do I actually keep?

All of it. We take $0 out of your raise. Donors cover card processing and our fee at checkout, so a $50 gift arrives as $50. Nothing is ever deducted from what someone sends you.

Does my friend need a Birthday Hunter account to give?

No. They open the link, choose an amount, and pay by card. Creating a fund needs an account; giving to one does not.

How is this different from just sending my Cash App handle?

A fund is a real page: it shows what you are raising for, tracks the total, lists who chipped in, and can be shared and reshared as one link. A payment handle is just a destination. It carries no context and nothing to share.

When do I get the money?

Gifts land in your Stripe balance as they arrive and pay out to your bank once you clear a $50 minimum. The threshold exists because bank transfer fees would otherwise cost more than a small payout is worth.

Is a birthday fund tax deductible?

No. These are personal gifts between people, not charitable donations. If you collect enough in a year you may receive a 1099-K, which reports the gross amount donors paid rather than what you received.

Is it free to create a fund?

There is a small one-time setup fee to create a fund, which keeps the page a real thing rather than something people spam. Every fund is reviewed by a person before it goes live.
